About
The museum is catered to preserving the history of the Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego and the history of Marines in San Diego.

The MCRD Command Museum boasts one of the most extensive and comprehensive displays of Marine Corps historical items in the Nation. The Museum has over 150,000 annual visitors and occupies 22,233 square feet of indoor space.

Getting there
From the North: Take Interstate-5 South to the Washington St. exit. At the Stop light, turn right onto W. Washington St. Go straight through the next two Stop lights. This will take you directly to Gate 5.

From the South: Take Interstate-5 North to the Washington St. exit. At the Stop light, turn left onto W. Washington St. Go straight through the next two Stop lights. This will take you directly to Gate 5.

From the East: Take Interstate-8 West to Interstate-5 South. Take the Washington St. exit, the second exit after the Interstate-8 interchange. At the Stop light, turn right onto W. Washington St. Go straight through the next two Stop lights. This will take you directly to Gate 5.

From the West: Take Rosecrans St. to Lytton St. Turn right onto Lytton St. At the curve in the road, the street becomes Barnett Ave. Continue straight on Barnett for approximately one mile where the road will merge with the Pacific Highway. Take the Washington St. exit on the right. Turn right onto W. Washington St. This will take you directly to Gate 5.

Please request directions to the Command Museum in Day Hall,
Building 26, at Gate 5.

More info
The Museum is open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday (until 4:30 on Thursdays). Admission is free, and military identification is not required, although admittance to the Depot requires a photo identification card, driver?s license, and proof of insurance if driving aboard base
