Westfield North County

If you're looking for a mall that features a wide selection of stores, is easy to find, and is just a great general shopping destination, the Westfield North County mall in Escondido (northern San Diego County) fits the bill!

Located just to the side of Interstate 15, the Westfield North County shopping center couldn't be more convenient...both for local residents as well as tourists wishing to take a break for some shopping fun.

Best things in this mall are the famous Godiva Chocolates and the sensual Garden Botanika. Of course you'll need some fine chocolates, who doesn't? And the staff there will graciously provide you with a special gift bag and complimentary card. Some boxes are already wrapped with a Happy Birthday bow and so your whole job is done. Don't forget to buy some tasty goodies for your self.

At Garden Botanika there are over 60 different fragrances to create your very own perfume, scented body lotion, splash, massage lotion/oil.

If what you really need is an overhaul, consider making an appointment at Collections Salon & Day Spa during your shopping escapade for one service or a combination of services, from 60 min. intensive European Facials to the thumbing technique of Reflexology.

Dining choices include the standard fast food joints but you can really get away from the crowds when you duck into the Red Robin. They have a full service restaurant in the mall for a tasty burger and shake.

In summertime this is the hottest mall location in San Diego County, literally, so they have enclosed it. Bravo. Bring your Evian water mister for the walk to and from the mall parking lot -- you'll need it. And make sure your air conditioner is working. It is Arizona-hot out there.

The mall is packed with a huge variety of stores and sprawls out from the center like legs on a spider. Each "leg" is filled with more kiosk-type of vendors, selling everything from silver jewelry to t-shirts and cell phones.

While most of Southern California's malls are shops strung together by cobbled outdoor walkways and gardens, the atmosphere at Shoppingtown North County is reminiscent of malls in other parts of the country -- all indoors.

And, just when you think you've seen it all, you can ride the escalator or the elevator and explore everything on the floor above.
