Traditionally we begin all our activities with prayers to Lord Ganesa. Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda began his Jnana Yajna at the shrine of Sri Ganesa in Pune.
Sri Ganapati Atharvasirshopanishad occurs in the Atharvana Veda. It is considered to be the most important Vedic text on Lord Ganesa and universally the greatest and most effective prayer to Lord Ganesa. Atharva means firmness, non-wavering, single pointedness of purpose, while sirsha means intellect. This means by controlling the unsteady and outgoing mind, manís intellect can be directed towards liberation.
Hanuman Chalisa is a 40 verse hymn by Saint Tulasidas praising Lord Hanuman for his unwavering devotion to Lord Rama. Tulasidasji wrote the hymn to inspire us to become devotees of Lord Rama so that we too progress spiritually and are blessed and protected by Sri Hanuman. By singing the hymn we are reminded of the greatness of Hanumanji, his devotion and his battle against unrighteous.
