and aired on Oprah Winfrey Network. The movie exposes how mainstream media
contributes to the under-representation of women in positions of power.

Building Blocks of Healthy Relationships

Topics to be covered:
*It will be geared towards helping people understand key psychological
concepts such as attachment, separation/individuation, healthy boundaries.
Different types of therapies available to help heal deficits in these areas
will be discussed briefly. We will also provide a better understanding of
the differences between Psychotherapists and Psychiatrists. Additional
information on how to utilize psychological services will be discussed with
our goal being to dispel myths about stigma related to emotional and
psychological issues*.
Dr. Renu Kaushik was born in India. She attended the Russian State Medical
University (Pirogov) in Moscow and graduated with honors in 1986. She
trained in Psychiatry at the University of Nevada, Reno and subsequently
finished a Fellowship in Child and Adolescent at the University of
California, San Diego in 2002. She is Board Certified both in Adult
Psychiatry as well as Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She is a Voluntary
Clinical Instructor at the University of California, San Diego, supervising
Child Fellow trainees and medical students.
She is currently employed by the County of San Diego, part time, evaluating
and treating the children at the Juvenile Hall and also seeing children and
adolescents in the San Diego community clinics. She also has a Private
Practice in Sorrento Valley. Her clinical interests include Disruptive
Behavior Disorder/ Conduct Disorder, Mood Disorders, Addiction, Trauma,
parent child relationship issues, phase of life issues, spiritual and
acculturation problems.
Her Private practice is mainly focused on psychotherapy with children,
families and couples. She has extensive experience with psychotropic
medication management and prefers to have a holistic approach always
emphasizing the need for combined treatment of psychopharmacology and
psychotherapy. She is married and has raised 2 children with her husband.
Her hobbies include reading, yoga, swimming and travelling. She enjoys
spending time with her family here and extended family abroad. She has
travelled extensively prior to coming to the United States in 1991 and
speaks fluent Hindi/Urdu, Russian and some conversational Arabic.
