I am realtor in R.B . covering escondido area too. Want to give liitle more detail regarding the misconception I read on this site.Escondido has 4 zipcodes 92025, 92026, 92027 , 92029. South escondido is considered more upscale and has beautiful properties. zipcode is 92029. 92026 is hidden meadows area Beautiful area but little bit more north. Prices have fallen more sharply there, though houses are newer. It is little bit away from highways and you have to travel further away from city. Part of 92025, which is east escondido , consists of lots of apartments and condo and smaller houses. One side of Escondido can be very different than the other. Indian community lives in Rancho Bernado and Poway Area because the prestigous school system of the area.Mira Mesa proximity to city and down town and
Indian shopping and temple, makes it desirable for indian community too.If you are still searching for homes let me know I can further assist you.

Hi

I am not sure which area your job is located, but eureka springs is too far from any job location. even 380k is expensive for that area.

if you like you can check these areas. i am also providing the zip codes, so you can search on www.realtor.com or any other site.

High price areas

92130 - carmel valley -- best school district

Hi friend,
I guess you really liked those homes :). I would advise you to consider other neighborhoods as well before u make ur decision. You can also visit San diego on a wknd and scan the areas, so that you make a more informed decision.

Hi ad1977,
Thanks for the prompt reply. The thing you mentioned about Escondido was kinda true but I was wondering if this is more of a general impression from a desi perspective (as most desis prefer Mira Mesa, Rancho Bernardo area) or a true sense of how things are now. I heard on various forums that crime in Escondido is exaggerated. Also like any other city there are areas to avoid and area which are nice.
Also I was looking at the new homes in the Eureka Springs area http://www.eurekaspringsliving.com/ . Wanted to know if this area is different from the overall impression of Escondido. Your opinions are highly valued. Thanks

1)Honestly do not expect the desi scene in SD like LA or chicago or nyc or dallas. Its not very big but at the same time its ok.mira mesa has the biggest desi concentration coz of qualcomm

2)escondido is mostly mexican and auto dealers/workshop area ...so try to avoid it.

3)Unfortunately (or fortunately) as of now Black mountain is the only desi hub here in SD. There is one grocery store in san marcos and one newly opened in poway but people mostly go to black mountain as there are 3-4 grocery stores, desi resuturants and a temple

Hi All,
I am considering a job offer in SD and thinking about moving down from bay area in northern california. I had a few questions:

1) How is the desi scene in San Diego in general for couples/families? I know its not as happening as Bay Area, but what I would like to know is if it is so bad that one should rethink about moving down here.

2) I checked the home prices in Rancho Bernardo and Poway area and feel that its really as expensive as Bay Area with newer homes close to $600k. Does it make sense ecnomoically to move to San Diego area?

3) How is Escondido for desis. I heard not so good things about Escondido but I looked at new homes in Eureka Springs area and really like it for the price ($380,000 for 4 bedroom 2300 sqft)

4) Are there any other desi grocery stores apart from Black Mountain area?

It would be really good if someone who has moved from Bay area can also share their experience
